Air France’s LTE 2.6 GHz Professional mobile network experiment at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport

This descriptive video presents an experimentation of a Professional LTE mobile network launched in 2017 which is still operational at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The system set up is an LTE network operating in the 2.6 GHz band in TDD mode, located to the east of the airport.

The aim of the experiment was twofold. The first was to test the usability of a private LTE network in a real operational configuration and to verify that its performance met the expectations of Air France’s various operational users.

The second was to test different network architecture scenarios in order to provide the most efficient coverage to all airport areas in view of the future deployment of this type of network.

The results of this experiment confirmed Air France’s choice of technology (LTE) but also the choice of a radio engineering system that is controlled and thus adapted to business needs (SLA, coverage, prioritization of flows, etc.).

These tests were carried out thanks to Ericsson and LD Expertise, but also thanks to ARCEP for having provided the required frequencies.
